Das Musical erzählt am Beispiel der Familie Kimura von der Situation japanischer Amerikaner, die während des Zweiten Weltkriegs inhaftiert worden sind. Entwickelt wurde es anhand der persönlichen Erinnerungen des Raumschiff-Enterprise-Stars George Takei, der nach der Uraufführung 2012 in San Diego und der Broadway-Spielzeit 2015/16 nun auch in London eine der Hauptrollen übernehmen wird.
