Basierend auf der gleichnamigen Kurzgeschichte von Frank Stockton (die auch in dem Broadway Musical “The Apple Tree” Verwendung fand) erzählt das 1975 uraufgeführte Musical von einer Prinzessin, die sich in einen Troubadour verliebt hat. Ihr Vater ist mit dieser Wahl überhaupt nicht einverstanden und stellt den jungen Mann vor die Wahl zwischen zwei Türen: Hinter der einen wartet die Prinzessin, hinter der anderen ein hungriger Tiger….
